NEW RENOVATION PROJECT 1

reno_webOur Clients wanted a sleek, contemporary, clean lined home that would leave a lasting impression.  Accustomed to traveling, we needed to transform their 80’s, 2 storey home into a flexible space with room to entertain, or just to contemplate.

The design needed to be unconventional yet functional. Sleek but warm and inviting. The transformation started with the removal of all tell tale signs of the eighties!

Our design palette consisted of natural finishes.  Bringing the outside in.  Natural cherry, white lacquer accents, rich hardwood throughout, close attention to the selection of unique but ‘nature driven’ light fixtures, natural stone finishes and to complete the look - unique, custom tables and benches made of raw, natural materials.  We played with these elements throughout the home in different proportions, carrying the design throughout.  No room went untouched, including the once cluttered mudroom/laundry room.

The entrance sets the stage. A gleaming staircase with glass and stainless steel railings replace the clumsy spindle rails with mirrored walls! From the entry, one can see a glimpse into every room on the main floor. Large glass/cherry, full height doors disappear into the walls when not in use in order to maintain the open and airy feel of the space. Close attention to lighting was also key in this project as our Clients have a beautiful collection of art that needed to be seen.

By enlarging the opening to the now sleek and inviting kitchen, hints of lacquer and cherry can also be seen from the entrance. There are many subtle details to catch the eye while maintaining a sense of upbeat tranquility.

The 2nd level, once an eye sore has transitioned into a space of beauty and tranquility thru the incorporation of glass railings and well lit artwork. Both the children’s bathroom and master bathroom were renovated in keeping with the overall palette of the home. Clean, functional, bright and uncluttered.

While the exterior of this home was left untouched, the main focus of this renovation was on the interior… The transformation of an 80’s nightmare into a contemporary, warm, contemplative home.
